Over 1000 talks at the 8ECM Congress

We are now only three weeks away from the official kickoff of the congress. On behalf of the Local Scientific Committee, I am happy to report that the scientific programme will consist of more than 1000 talks. Apart from the EMS prize talks, plenary and invited talks and some special lectures, the 8ECM will host 62 minisymposia with contributed talks on a variety of mathematical topics. Among these, there are 8 minisymposia with at least 20 contributions: Combinatorial Designs (MS - ID 16), Operator Algebras (MS - ID 14), Approximation Theory and Applications (MS - ID 78), Topological Methods in Differential Equations (MS - ID 13), Graphs, Polynomials, Surfaces, and Knots (MS - ID 49), Modeling Roughness and Long-Range Dependence with Fractional Processes (MS - ID 18), Harmonic Analysis and Partial Differential Equations (MS - ID 28), and Recent Developments on Preservers (MS - ID 38).

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all involved in the preparation of this rich and attractive scientific programme, in particular to all minisymposia organizers and members of the local scientific committee whose efforts helped to make this programme as representative of current mathematical trends as possible.

Dragan Marušič,
Chair of the Local Scientific Committee of the 8ECM congress

Considering a visit to Portorož?

Although the 8ECM programme will be delivered completely online, in light of the recent improvement of the epidemiological situation, the organizers are now encouraging participants to consider the option of travelling to the Adriatic coast and staying at the congress venue during the congress, while observing all required safety measures.

Reservations for 8ECM guests at Grand Hotel Bernardin, Hotel Histrion or Hotel Vile Park in Portorož, Slovenia, are still possible. Several lecture halls at the Bernardin Congress Center will be available for live presentation broadcasting, large-screen viewing or research sessions in small groups. Informal evening events will be possible in accordance with the safety measures and throughout the congress, volunteers will be available at the Bernardin Congress Center for additional assistance. However, participants should constantly check the latest Slovenian border crossing policy and security measures.
