Crossing the border to Slovenia

People arriving from countries marked green can enter Slovenia without restrictions. This usually does not apply to passengers from third countries who travel due to non-urgent reasons which also include tourism. Prior to travelling, we recommend that you check the travel recommendations on the official websites of the countries from which you intend to travel.

Persons arriving from the countries or regions that are on the dark red or red list must quarantine for 10 days. As of 15 May, quarantine may be terminated after five days provided that the individual submits a negative PCR test. A quarantine of 10 days is not required to an individual who submits:

• A negative PCR test for COVID-19 that is not older than 48 hours according to the date of the swab taken and which was carried out in an EU Member State, a Schengen Area Member State, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland or the United States of America. When entering Slovenia, PCR tests done in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Israel or Russia are also valid. **

• Certificate of positive result of a PCR test that is older than 10 days and not older than six months, or medical certificate of recovery from COVID-19, if not more than six months have elapsed since the beginning of symptoms.

• certificate of vaccination against COVID-19, which proves that:
  • at least seven days have passed since the second dose of the Comirnaty vaccine by Biontech/Pfizer,
  • at least 14 days have passed since the second dose of the COVID-19 Vaccine by Moderna,
  • at least 21 days have passed since the first dose of the Vaxzevria (COVID-19 Vaccine) by Astra Zeneca,
  • at least 14 days have passed since the first dose of the COVID-19 Vaccine Janssen by Johnson & Johnson/Janssen-Cilag,
  • at least 21 days have passed since the first dose of the Covishield vaccine by Serum Institute of India/AstraZeneca,
  • at least 14 days have passed since the second dose of the Sputnik V vaccine by Russia's Gamaleya National Centre of Epidemiology and Microbiology,
  • at least 14 days have passed since the second dose of the  CoronaVac vaccine by Sinovac Biotech, or
  • at least 14 days have passed since the second dose of the COVID-19 Vaccine by Sinopharm.
• Passengers who have recovered from COVID-19 and have been vaccinated within eight months following a positive PCR test or the start of symptoms with at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine that is recognised in Slovenia.
• Children under the age of 15 in an organised group accompanied by an educator, teacher or guardian. 

**Negative tests and evidence on convalescence from COVID-19 from Serbia are also recognised. At category A checkpoints for international air transport, negative PCR test results issued in Turkey are also recognised.

Checkpoints on road connections in the border area with Italy, Austria and Hungary are abolished.

Travel announcement application "Enter Slovenia"

The Slovenian Police have developed a travel announcement application, "Enter Slovenia", which provides help to users when entering our country, especially with regard to understanding the exceptions. The application specifies the control points at which people can cross the border. Depending on the purpose of their travel to Slovenia, a user may complete a form with their personal data. The data is not saved after the form is generated and is automatically deleted. The user may print out this form or save it on their mobile phone or a tablet and show it at a border control point or a control point within Slovenia.
