We would like to inform you that we are still closely monitoring the situation concerning the spread of SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) in Europe and in Slovenia, and that we have a backup plan of action for the 8ECM in case the situation doesn’t improve.The final decision will be taken as soon as the situation becomes clear, but not later than May 2020.

Please rest assured that the health and safety of 8ECM attendees is our utmost priority. However, we do not wish to act prematurely or irresponsibly. Since the Congress is planned for July 2020, it is reasonable that we consider all possibilities.

In the case that the final decision is to reschedule the 8ECM, the 8th European Congress of Mathematics will be held from 20 – 26 June, 2021 in the same location, i.e Portorož, Hotel Bernardin. We kindly ask you to save the date in your schedule!

Participants who already have a reservation at the Congress venue (Hotel Bernardin) will be able to re-book their accommodation per their preferences. We will provide you with additional instructions in due course, should the need arise.

For all participants who have paid the congress fee, we will enable passive or active participation via the internet, either from your home or from your hotel room, if you are unable to attend lectures in person. Cancellation requests, with a full refund, will also be enabled at that time.

We look forward to welcoming you at the 8ECM, either this year or the next, and kindly ask for your patience in the meantime.
